Cotton Bowl 2015 Kickoff time, TV channel:
Who: Alabama Crimson Tide (12-1) vs. Michigan State Spartans (12-1)
Where: Cotton Bowl, AT&T Stadium (Arlington, Texas)
When: Thursday, Dec. 31
Time: 8 p.m.
How Alabama got here: The Crimson Tide, who were the top seed in the inaugural College Football Playoff last year, are the second seed this year. Alabama beat Florida on Saturday afternoon in the SEC Championship in Atlanta.
Like Ohio State last year, Alabama was able to overcome a loss early in the season. The Crimson Tide lost to Ole Miss on Sept. 19, and have won every game since. On the strength of running back Derrick Henry — who has 1,986 rushing yards and 23 rushing touchdowns — and the No. 2 defense in the country, the Tide are trying to get Nick Saban his first national title of the playoff era.
For Saban, a matchup with Michigan State brings a game against a program for which he served as head coach from 1995-99. He was also an assistant for the Spartans from 1983-87.
How Michigan State got here: The Spartans put themselves on the playoff track by beating Ohio State in Columbus on Nov. 21. Michigan State scored a late touchdown to beat Iowa on Saturday in the Big Ten Championship in Indianapolis.
The Spartans lone loss this season came on a controversial late touchdown from Nebraska on Nov. 7. They also have wins over Michigan and Oregon. This is Michigan State’s first trip to the College Football Playoff, and the Spartans are looking to give the Big Ten its second straight National Champion.
Michigan State is ranked No. 26 in the country in total defense, and has allowed 12.5 points per game over its last four games. This will be the second all-time meeting between Alabama and Michigan State. The Crimson Tide beat the Spartans in the 2011 Capital One Bowl. thanks visiting for Cotton Bowl Live Stream info.
